Following this informational page. I am concerned for a family member.
Dr. Bartos of Kaiser Southern Ca performed surgery on my wife and said it was successful and that she would be home in 2 days. Instead 1 week we got her cut up and mutilated body. He never fixed her underlying condition and she died of septic shock of an infection she got while at the hospital. The doctors at Kaiser failed to give her the antibiotics needed to fight the infection. I tried to call Dr. Bartos many times but he never took my call. This man is unfit to be a surgeon and all Kaiser doctors in San Diego are butchers, not doctors.
Hi,
I have been mistreated by DR Teri Pusheck (Teresa Lynn Pusheck) in 2011/2012 as a result of which I have lost my hhearing with in 1 day after the visit in which she apparently tried ti clear some evidence of her mistreatment by putting heavy vaccume on my ears to the point it made me cry and I jokingly commente dont suck my brain out (Unaware of what she is up to). With in a day of that visit I loss my complete balcnce unable to stand or walk and eventually loss my left nerve hearing which shhe later labeled at as “Sudden hearing loss”. well it was not all sudden only after the visit to her.
I did not realize theh complication thhaht woud cause me in life just let it go And I have since lost my marriage, my Confidence and job opportunities due to loss of hearing. and most importantly I hhave lost theh joy of hearing my kids well and communicating wit tem as I am mostly isolated since I can hear well. and I can go one for ever with the pain. However I stop hhhere and want to know if any one else has experience any malpractice from DR Teresa Lynn Pusheck Ear nose throat (ENT department in Kaiser Permenante Woodland ills
My husband was transferred to an acute care facility from Kaiser, after a mini stroke. He was there only for physical therapy to gain strength in his legs. After calling 40 different facilities that would take him, they dumped him in the worst facility available. I begged them to take him back to Kaiser, after I witnessed the lack of care being provided. I spent every day outside his window and demanded that they care for him properly. I was ignored. He was dead within 7 days of being there. He had health issues before the stroke, that were ignored. He needed to be in a hospital. In the 5 months that have passed, I’ve asked for complaint forms, and arbitration information. Have not received anything. My sweet husband is dead, and I never even received an apology for his passing. No word from his Dr’s either.
Kaiser Permanente is absolutely horrible care and treated my son and I poorly. I had chronic pain issues from endometriosis that is most severe in my digestive tract. I also suffer from abdominal migraines, fibromyalgia, and back issues. My doctors never controlled the pain I experienced daily. I was accused of being a drug seeker even when my blood pressure was extremely high when complaining of pain to doctors. Even with all these issues, none of my concerns were addressed. I was denied surgery for a severely herniated disk. Nor would the doctors give me anything stronger than Motrin. Every second I was in pain and could not take motrin type products. The strongest medication I was given was Tylonal 3. I would spend weeks in bed sobbing. I could not be the mother to my kids as many times they had to take care of me. Eventually, I developed uncontrollable vomiting; which lead to stomach migraines. My head down to my feet hurt. If I went to the ER often, I was denied pain medication. I was treated poorly and even heard the nurses making jokes at my expense. None seemed professional.
The last year was the worst. My doctor was horrible and refused to give me any type of pain medication. She would even stop needed non narcotic medication I needed after I ate. She would give no notice and would force me to go to Urgent Care. One time this happened and I started sobbing uncontrollably. The only half way decent thing the pharmacist approved a emergency supply. I had to go to Urgent Care to receive this medication as that cold hearted witch would not return my calls. I had a UTI and she drug tested me without permission. I had Tylonal 3 in my system because I was paying a pain specialist out of pocket. She started screaming at me and treating me poorly. Thank God I had the meds with me. I only had three months of this horrible health plan and just saw urgent care doctors for needed medications. I had one ER visit and that sadistic doctor put I was a drug addict and not to give me pain meds. The ER doctor was so cruel we just left and made a complaint.
Nothing is ever done with these complaints and doctors cover for each other. I truly believe many of the doctors are inept and sadist. A example is my back was killing me. I could not even do house work. I made an appointment to with any a doctor available. The doctor told me he refuse to give me any type of pain meds. Told me I was fat and needed to lose weight. He, without permission, took medications off my chart. He lectured me that I needed to start yoga. Ya.. I could hardly move because my herniated disk. He told me he could give me Motrin. This is how a majority of doctors treat patients at Kaiser. They don’t listen, basically accuse you of being hysterical and drug seeking. They make fun of your weight, and do absolutely nothing to help. They are cold hearted and cruel.
A ER doctor was extremely rude and mean to my son because he smoked pot, and refused to address his pain and throwing up. She was rude and cold. She only gave him Tylonal through an IV and one dose of anti nausea. The evil nurse and doctor refused to give him another dose anti nausea prior to leaving. Also a doctor told my son he no longer had ADHD so they did not have to give him medication for this. He was diagnosed as a child. This condition does not magically go away. You have it all your life!
I at that point was also using CBD and pot because it is legal where I live for pain. It was less expensive as seeing a doctor for paying out of pocket for pain meds. What other choice did I have? Not like Kaiser was helping in anyway.
We pay a lot for our health insurance to be treated poorly and treated like vermin. I hope all those doctors end up in pain amd forced to endure the pain they caused me. I cannot believe anyone would choose that plan.
I know there is more restrictions on pain medication but Kaiser takes it to a whole new level. I have heard stories of refusing pain meds to dying patients. They take it to an excessive level. My guess is to save money. You should not have to pay for health insurance just to be treated like scum. All Kaiser cares about is money. They are always looking for ways to cut costs at the expense of their patients.
March of 2020 I (a female) I had typical male heart attack symptoms. Went in 3 times, Kaiser turned me away each time telling me I was, “anxious.” I have no history of anxiety. When the full on double heart attack struck that probably would have killed me i told my hubby not to call the ambulance since they would just turn me away again. Thank god he called. Not that the ambulance drivers even gave me lights and sirens, just an anxious little lady. 2 stents. Employees rifled my belongings and stole my jewelry while i got the 2nd stent. Who thinks to take off jewelry while getting into an ambulance? Should have been recovering but had to make police report, complaints, etc. Member services pretends to care but it’s like asking the cops to investigate the cops. So bottom line, kaiser, Oakland Kaiser tried to kill me as far as I’m concerned and when they couldn’t they stole my jewelry and rifled through my dirty clothes bag to get it. Interestingly, a friends husband had my symptoms exactly and was admitted immediately (same day) and had his stent put in. Beware, ladies.
I was a victim of an assault when I was found on the floor of my home. I later found out I collapsed 5 days prior, my phone was taken and I was left for dead. I was extremely ill, to weak to stand and my R hip had given out. Doctor’s dismissed everything I said. I never received proper testing and my injuries were never treated. I was blamed and misdiagnosed. I was also denied a police report. The situation I have found myself in that report was crucial. I have been a Kaiser Permanente member since 01 and added Medi-cal in 2016 after a divorce. I had always been healthy and couldn’t understand why I was being blamed and the diagnoses was impossible. I had just fought through the assault to save myself and nobody would listen. I returned home to find years of KP and doctor’s negligent actions with a blatant disregard for the laws set in place. The same person who assaulted me used KP and doctor’s negligent action’s to her advantage. A loophole she found was used causing KP and doctor’s to assist in the crime against me. A unauthorized KP.org account was made using my name and medical info. The account was made using only her address, phone/ email. The unauthorized account led to an illegal secondary medical coverage in my name(middle initial changed). KP allowed my same MR#/ SS# to be used twice. The illegal coverage was paid from her bank account directly to KP. KP had two different addresses, phone numbers and emails, one true set and one fraudulent being her’s. The unauthorized account and fraud coverage allowed her to pick her own doctor’s. Doctor’s are documented messaging back and forth with her as she uses her own name and phone number. The unauthorized account shows all activitie was generated by her email/phone. Doctor’s allowed third party prescribing with an excessive amount of medication. Doctor’s also allowed her to obtain medication I’m unable to take being immune compromised. The fraud MR had new fraudulent diagnosis that I was never made aware. The doctor’s in ICU used the fraudulent coverage/MR causing the misdiagnosis. A year 1/2 investigation took place, KP advised me to”seek legal counsel”.I have been left without treatment this entire time and denied a diagnosis. I’ve had 6 primary doctors in less than a year, all tell me to find another. I have sense lost my ability to walk due to my R hip and left foot. I now suffer from sezures, drug induced muscle waisting condition, drug induced liver injury (no cirrhosis or ascites), drug induced respiratory condition, skin reaction, teeth cracking and high blood pressure. I have filed over 200 grievances documenting my rapid decline. KP is knowingly leaving me to die without any help. I’ve been denied in home care 3times. I was told by 2 doctor’s outside of KP they believe I have a neurological issue. I was told the excessive amount of medication saturated my entire body. I spoke to a doctor yesterday regarding an appointment to see a spinal specialist. I was told by [non-KP medical center] they believe it may be in my bone marrow.
My ex, and very dear friend is in a kaiser hospital this very second… Being systematically killed by the butchers at Kaiser Permanente. She went in approximately 5 months ago to have a kidney stone removed. The doctor cut her open, not sure what he actually did… Because he left the kidney stone in. She kept going back to the ER complaining of extreme pain, chills, throwing up. They accused her of trying to get pain medicine! Asking her to leave. She went to another hospital to get checked out and they said that the kidney stone is still in her kidney NOW SURROUNDED BY SCAR TISSUE and saying now that they need to remove part of her kidney. HOW IS THIS MEDICAL GROUP IN BUSINESS!!! reminds me of the days of the El Cajon Valley Hospital butcher shop… Now SHUT DOWN… AS THIS INSTITUTION SHOULD BE!
Now they still denying care, falsifying X-ray reports and restricting pain medication to no more than 50 meq per day!
You can’t have any adjunct medications like a muscle relaxer or gabapentin. The gas lighting is out of control. I was sent to psych groups rather than given a mri for tendinitis and a torn rotar cuff. My injury was in January 2022. MRI 10/22 and waiting for ortho appointment. Misdiagnosed last year and given high doses of prednisone which really messed me up. Doctor ignored every email this year. Now, it is winter and so much medical evidence that arthritis pain increases in cold weather and barometric pressure and yet every chronic pain patient is being forced to drastically reduce and give up the medication that allows them to move and have some degree of comfort….
Why do we as a society allow this to continue?
It is the age of social media and I highly recommend we unite to fight for ourselves and each other.
The suffering and death need to stop and I believe collectively we can accomplish that!
I was injured from a fall in July. I was injured by a fall, due to post concussion dizziness, in my home early in the morning, therefore I couldn’t get to the Kaiser clinic until mid-morning. I was checked in, but rather than believing that I needed x-rays, they let me sit in the waiting area for an hour and a half. The triage nurse spent 1 minute with me and sent me to radiology without providing a sling (what didn’t you believe me when I said I broke it? I’m old, I know when I broke a bone!) Radiology took pictures of both the elbow. The xrays showed a fracture of the elbow.
I went from radiology, again holding my arm with no sling, to wait again. I finally got in to see a P.A. She noticed FINALLY that I needed a sling (several hours after I was checked in) and got my arm into a sling. She proceeded to ask me what pain meds I wanted, telling me that they were going to refer my case to an orthopedic doc because of the severity of the break. At that point, I again pointed out that my dizziness caused the fall with the P.A. We both agreed that naproxen, rather than a narcotic, was the best (I found out later that naproxen should NEVER be prescribed for broken bones as it interferes with the healing of bones). I also discussed with the P.A. that I will need muscle relaxants because I had a bad fall and am worried about my back seizing up over the weekend. The P.A. agreed that muscle relaxants would be appropriate. The P.A. then said, “Okay, well, call the orthopedic office on Monday.” I said, “Wait a minute, you mean you are only going to provide a sling and meds?” P.A. “Well, yes.” Me “So you aren’t going to splint the bone?” P.A. “Oh, you want me to stabilize the bone?” Me, “Ummm, YES! How do you expect me to sleep this weekend?” P.A. “Well, let me go see what I can do.” She comes back to put the splint material both over and under the lower arm, basically sandwiching my arm between the splint material and wrapping the whole thing with an ace bandage.
From there, I went to the Kaiser pharmacy across the hallway to get the prescribed naproxen and muscle relaxant. I again waited for awhile to get these meds. At my time at the pharmacy window, the gal behind the desk only offers one pill bottle. I said, “hey wait, there should be 2 different prescriptions.” Pharmacy gal “No, we only have one prescription.” Me “Can you please call over to the other side to see about the muscle relaxants?” Pharm gal, “No, that’s not our job. You have to go back and wait.” At this point, I’ve been in Kaiser for 3 ½ hours, I had to go lay down. I said, “OMG, I will just go home.” So, I went home.
At home, I laid down and kept thinking that I needed those muscle relaxants to get through the weekend. So, I called about an hour later. I said I was the woman who broke her elbow, can I talk to someone about getting the muscle relaxants I discussed with the P.A.? The gal on the phone told me there were no notes about any muscle relaxants in that day’s notes on the visit. She said I would have to come back to the clinic! I, desperately said, “You have my entire medical file, don’t you?” She agreed, they did. I said, in my file another doc has prescribed muscle relaxants. Can you please just issue me a refill? She said she could. In looking through my medical file, she said the only prescription she saw was for sleeping pills. I said, “No way, I received many more prescriptions for muscle relaxants than I did for sleeping pills. Please keep looking through the file.” She finally said, “Well, I did find a prescription for methal carbonal, is that what you’re looking for?” I said “Yes,” but in my head I was wondering how a nurse could not know that methal carbonal was a muscle relaxant. Needless to say, they did provide me a refill.
The orthopedic appointment took almost a week to happen! During this time, the splint Kaiser had put on my arm was so tight that my fingers began to swell. There was no way to ice the arm to reduce the swelling because the splint covered both the top and the bottom of the arm. Waiting for the orthopedic appointment was torture. I ended up pulling back the ace bandage to above the wrist and putting a stick between the upper and lower portions of the splint to provide some relief to the fingers and hand.
Once I got to the orthopedic appointment, the doc said, yep, broken elbow. He suggested surgery would provide me with the safest option to achieve full range of motion. During the chat with him, I told him about the issues with the splint that Kaiser put on and asked if his office could re-do it. He said, “Sure, of course.” But, the nurse was not provided any instruction to re-do the splint, they were trying to get me out of the office. This ortho office was going to allow me to walk out of there with this horrible splint from Kaiser, before I insisted that the splint be changed!
The nurse in charge of changing the splint, cut off the Kaiser splint and said, “I’ve never seen someone splint both above and below the bone.” I said, “I thought it was torture. There was no way for me to control the swelling as I couldn’t get the cold to penetrate the splint.” Nurse, “typically, they don’t splint the top of the injury for that very reason.”
Once the redone splint was secure, the arm felt immensely better. Surgery was scheduled for July 22.
Surgery office sends me a request for a positive review after my appointment. I thought this odd as they had not conducted any surgical procedure yet!
Prior to surgery, I had discussed with the surgeon that I suffer from post-concussion syndrome due to a car accident. I told him I didn’t want general anesthesia used so as to protect my brain. The surgeon agreed, told me they can do a “block” instead. But, when I got a call from nurse pre-op, none of this info was in the notes, she conveyed they couldn’t do a block. I got hugely upset over the phone and said I had discussed this with the surgeon who said a block would be much more appropriate due to my TBI. The nurse said she would have to discuss this with the anesthesia doc and told me she would call me back. Nurse called me back a few hours later and said that yes, they could do a block and I should arrive a half hour early to accommodate.
The day of surgery: I arrived at the surgery center, once again they knew nothing of the block request and I had to tell them all over again that I have post-concussion syndrome and I want to protect my brain. The anesthesia doc came to talk to me about doing a block, but acted like he had not been told about doing this. I’m not sure why none of these conversations about my post-concussion syndrome and the request for the block were not recorded in my file.
The actual surgery went well.
Post-surgery not so much. I had called the ortho office because they indicated I needed to change the dressing 3 days post op. I asked for specific instructions regarding this. Over the phone, the nurse said “Take off the ace bandage, cut off the underdressing and change the bandage.” I said, “Oh wow, I don’t think I should do this myself. I think I will go to the Kaiser walk-in clinic.” She said “why? Just take off the bandage and all you will need is a band aide.” I thought to myself that this was a ridiculous instruction. I decided instead to go to Kaiser to have them change the bandage.
Once at Kaiser, I was sent to see the Nurse to have help changing the dressing. The LPN said, “Oh wow, you’re only 3 days post op? And the orthopedic office wants US to change the dressing?” I said, “No, they thought I should change the dressing myself. I thought it wise to not do that and came here instead.” LPN, “Well, just what kind of dressing is underneath that ace bandage?” Me “How should I know, I was pretty much out when it was applied.” LPN, “I’m going to get help.” She brought another nurse in to assist. The nurse she brought in said, “I’ve been an OR nurse and I feel totally comfortable changing this dressing.” She proceeded to take off the ace bandage and cut off the cotton underneath the ace bandage. She had to use saline solution to get the bandage covering the incision away from the incision. She said, “Oh wow, this incision is bigger than expected. Do you want a picture of it?” I said, “Yes, actually, I’d love a picture.” So she took my phone and snapped a pic of the incision, which was bigger than I had anticipated. I, then knew that what the orthopedic nurse told me to do: “just put a band-aide on it” was as ridiculous an instruction as I thought it was.
The Kaiser nurse rebandaged my arm using a large bandage to cover the incision site, gauze surrounding that and then added the ace bandage over top. I got home and asked my neighbor to add another ace bandage on the lower arm as well.
After my visit with Kaiser, I got a call from the orthopedic office correcting the ridiculous instructions that I received previous to my Kaiser visit. The ortho nurse told me to take off the ace bandage, replace the bandage over the incision site and REAPPLY the ace bandage to the arm! I said, I disregarded the previous instructions that I change the bandage myself and apply only a band aide. I told the ortho nurse that I had gone to the Kaiser clinic, who was surprised that the ortho office wanted them to provide post op care. The blind leading the blind? Who knows.
The ortho doc instructed me prior to surgery that he wanted me to get into PT very quickly after surgery. I told him I was already going to PT and I had given him the name of my PT provider. He said they would provide instructions for them post op.
It has now been 10 days post op and no instructions have been provided to my PT provider.
This is only over a broken elbow. I would NEVER allow Kaiser to operate on any other part of me. They are the worst medical provider system I’ve ever encountered. Horrible. The worst!
