From a frustrated soon to be ex-Kaiser Virginia member:
How can someone lodge a complaint against Kaiser and get heard? I have called Member Services and they tell me to contact the Facility Members Services and nothing gets done. You try to make an appointment only to receive a voicemail telling you someone will call you back and no one does. Your doctor tells you that you need a test ASAP and you have to call three times because you are told only one person is working on referrals. You can rarely get an appointment with your doctor unless you want to wait weeks on end. You pay high dollar to receive health care by a doctor and get seen by a nurse practioner. Twice I have been given the wrong medication – a medication belonging to someone else which was a controlled substance. How can one get assistance? I am stuck in this HMO until open season. I would appreciate any help you can give me as to how to file a complaint that will get heard outside of Kaiser. Thank you.
We suggest you file a complaint with the Virginia Bureau of Insurance:
Bureau of Insurance
PO Box 1157
Richmond, Virginia 23218

Consumer Services
800-552-7945
The Office of the Managed Care Ombudsman may also be of assistance.
Good luck with your complaint!
Kaiser’s in Virginia now? Wow, I didn’t even know.
Virginia has always been part of Kaiser’s Mid-Atlantic region which includes Washington DC and parts of Maryland.
It’s interesting to note that members in all Kaiser regions are experiencing identical problems getting their complaints addressed.
