Comment: Getting older tends to let your mind forget important things that happened to a loved one, in 2006 my late wife was not receiving the medical treatments that were needed to correct or heal the health problems she was having, my first mistake was to file a complaint with member services, thats when a Ms Carol Canady appeared on my complaint, Carol Canady is Kaisers member service Rep. immediately she pulled my wifes medical records and somehow they disappeared from Kaisers Record Dept, this was in July 2006, the records were not at the hospital, they couldn't be found, at that time I had requested a copy of her complete file. Carol Canady had removed the file from the hospital and took the files to her office in Riverside Ca. these files were missing until after my wife passed away in Sept 2007. when I request copies after her death, the record dept had only 46 pages of records, I suggested that the record dept check with Carol Canady and have her return the records, I found out later that it is against the law to remove medical records from the hospital property, where they are kept, while these records were in Carol Canadys hands, this gave her and Kaisers legal Rep the required time to check and look over 602 pages of records that showed where Kaisers Drs made mistakes in the treatments my wife received and didn't receive, Kaisers Legal Rep, a man by the name of Kenneth Pivo, distroyed 18 pages of medical records, they said that they didn't exist, what they didn't know, I had every copy of medical treatments that my wife had received since 1998, I took the time to check the 584 pages I finally received, against my records, thats when I knew that they had removed these pages from the file. these missing pages showed where Kaisers Drs made horrible mistakes, when I threw these in the face of the Judge who handled this case, said that these pages had no bearing on this case against Kaiser, this shows that another Judge had been silenced in favor of Kaiser.
The administration at Kaiser has realized the power of advertisement. The more they advertise, the more patients they get. If you get the same message repeated all day long, sooner or later, we soon will believe in their message. They are brainwashing us daily. Well, perhaps no matter what you got, an ear infection, congested heart failure, etc..if you can just believe in their ads, you will forget to call them for an appointment because you are too busy "thriving." And if you happen to call for an appointment, they will purposely agitated you to dealth with the same list of questions: "What is your name? Medical record? What is the day time phone number, etc..." And then once you past all that and you a crying to see your doctor, they will let you speak to an advice nurse who will agitate you some more. Then finally, the advice nurse will tell you,"I will send a message to the clinic." Then you get to wait and wait and finally probably have to go to their ER if you have money or simply suffer...Has anyone realize that in the down turn of the economy, they have hired so many managers. I wonder if the managers are acting as doctors now.

oh my, my heart goes out to you so deeply. I am glad people are still so touched by your story.

I found your posts when searching google for the best way to get my own records from the 1950's. Kaiser claims they keep all medical records "indefinitely", but clearly this is not the case.

I was born without platelets due to a condition in my mother's body (though I produced them after birth). I also had a pneumonia or other upper respiratory infection. I started my life in the NICU, and for weeks Kaiser would not allow my mother, my parents in, to see me, to touch me, to hold me. And I suspect in those days, the nurses did not hold me either, except to perform medical procedures.

I have been told I was a sad infant who cried all the time. No surprise there. And I have had major depressive disorder that finally is treatable.

Well, I want my medical records from that time, prior to birth and neonatal. But I wonder too, whether these records have also been conveniently lost.

If you had so much trouble with the state of California "helping" you, then it might be impossible for me, except I was alive at birth. But with all those complications, Kaiser might have destroyed evidence of harm. Just the fact that I lay there like this, this thing in a box, for weeks, destroyed my life as I have lived it.

Unfortunately my mother is gone now. With mother's day coming up, I can't help but wish I had her still to recount the earliest days of my life, and have help in getting those all-important records.

I am crying for you, losing your precious baby. I am crying for me, starting life like I did. I am crying for all of us who have suffered at the hands of medical malpractice.

Because my birth was so long ago, and the only person who remembered is dead herself, I am now afraid I will never get this information that I believe is essential for me to understand where I came from, how I started.

I wish you the very best and hope that time has helped heal somewhat. I know the hurt and anger never really go away. That I can assure you of. And the mother baby bond is inseparable. I will always miss my own mother until I pass away myself.

But I thought, if I could just see what did happen during those early days, I might at least reconstruct the patterns of my life.

So help me, if Kaiser does not release all those records to me, I will also take strong action against them. They are evil, and I hear story after story, all excellent reasons to find other health care.

I do wish everyone the best, with this mother's day coming up. Bless you all.

Now the dogs have started a blog for telling patient care stories, the obvious reason for which is to counteract this blog and the thousands of horror stories that exist online. There is a submission form and everything, but they flat out state they are not interested in negative stories.

http://www.kaiserpermanentecarestories.org/tell-us-your-story/

I suggest that everyone who reads this should head over and submit their stories anyway.
