[...] Kaiser and its advertising goons Campbell-Ewald have recently announced the newest phase of the Thrive brand campaign, which stresses preventative care and features a Saturday Night Fever style “Stayin’ Alive” parody, among other silliness. This after months of bad publicity over the failure of its kidney transplant program, which caused the deaths of over 100 patients and resulted in the largest fine ever imposed on an HMO by California’s Department of Managed Health Care.
Kaiser still denies any harm was done and refuses to acknowledge any responsibility. We all know from painfully personal experience that Kaiser and its lawyers will re-victimize the kidney patients and families in arbitration and/or court, and will have no qualms about destroying evidence and lying to avoid paying damages.

Not to mention that $2 million dollars is pocket change for multi-billion dollar Kaiser.

Another article announced that David Merlin, the administrator who blew the whistle on the kidney transplant program, is starting a web site for patients: www.kidneytruth.com. It appears to not be up and running just yet.

I hope people keep in mind that this money is going to the government and to Kaiser's own employees (the "outreach program"). People DIED in this incident. Don't let this fine distract from the fact Kaiser needs to pay damages to the patients and the families.
